The Age of Decay

Got to go and hand over my old house now and I'm feeling pretty nervous about it. I don't know why but it feels like a big deal. I hate the Martin and Co. people as they always make me feel exploited and unhappy. They use the renting system to extract as much money as possible out of people who can't really afford it. I've got a feeling we might have a run in over a light fitting that they'll charge silly money to be fixed, but rather than getting angry I think I'll have to let it all go. Once the house is no longer mine, I'll feel one hundred times better. Perhaps I'll get my head back and be able to think about my writing much more. I've not done anything creative for so long. No, that's a lie. I have - but not enough. The house has been taking up mental as well as physical energy. I need to start thinking about me more. Get some exercise, write what I can, feed myself full of good stuff. The time is coming when all that is possible.

Just a quick note about the book. There was a professor on 'In our Time' talking about disease, and he said that he believes there have been three ages of man:

  • The Age of Disaster - where you a killed by wild animals, fire, cold, heat, war.
  • The Age of Disease - where you are killed by diseases (this still exists for most of the developing world today)
  • The Age of Decay - we get old and die.
This reminded me so much of Bunyan's names and places that I thought I might be able to use it somehow.

Weird. I just searched on the internet for my old house, so I could put a picture on here, and I saw pictures of my old kitchen and living room and all my stuff. There was also a picture of how someone else had the house - with a sofa across the patio doors: presumably the only way they could fit furniture in. Horrid house.
